YMCA of Rock River Valley 2024 Annual Report - Report - Page 3
LETTER FROM THE CEO & CVO
Dear Friends,
Our theme in 2024 was something that’s deeply meaningful to all of us here at the YMCA—
something that you’ve helped make possible: Belonging. We understand how important it is for
people to feel like they truly belong. It's a basic need we all share: the need to fit in, to connect, and
to know that we are valued for who we are. Thanks to you, that sense of belonging is brought to life
at the Y, in many ways, both big and small.
Whether it's in the camaraderie shared in our group exercise classes, the fulfillment gained through
volunteering, or the shared experiences at community events, the Y is a place where people come
together to support one another. When we gather with a common purpose, knowing that we are not
just welcome but truly wanted and appreciated, that’s where belonging begins.
None of this would be possible without your continued support. Your generosity has made it
possible for people from all walks of life to come together in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
2024 was a fulfilling year. Because of you, the fitness center expansion at the SwedishAmerican
Riverfront YMCA opened, doubling the space; the new Good Shepherd YMCA was completed, our
first presence on the west side of Rockford; and the Emerging Leaders Challenge - a program to
support the YMCA Boys and Young Men of Color strategy - launched, bringing new skills and
belonging to a great group of young men.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your commitment to the Y makes an incredible difference
in the lives of countless people in our community. Together, we are building a stronger, more
connected community where everyone is not only welcomed, but valued.
